As part of AT&T鈥檚 continuing commitment to supporting quality education across Tennessee, the AT&T Foundation has donated $10,000 to 91探花 State Community College. The grant will provide last dollar scholarships for minority and underserved students.

鈥淲e appreciate AT&T and its support of 91探花 State Community College students,鈥 said Dr. Carol Martin-Osorio, 91探花 State vice president of student affairs and enrollment management. "This generous scholarship fits into the College's plan of providing students with support beyond tuition-assistance so they can be successful throughout and after their college experience."

While Tennessee Promise and Tennessee Reconnect provides tuition-free access to the state鈥檚 community colleges, gaps remain that can create a barrier to entry for some students. The AT&T Last Dollar scholarships will aid students with cost of attendance items such as books, childcare, transportation, and other costs associated with attending college that aren鈥檛 covered by other financial aid programs once tuition is paid.

鈥淪uccess in higher education is critical for Tennessee鈥檚 long-term growth and potential,鈥 said State Senator Jeff Yarbro. 鈥淭hanks to the programs offered at 91探花 State, students receive the training and education that is required to succeed in the 21st century workforce.鈥

鈥淔rom the State Capitol and across our community, I see the tremendous impact 91探花 State鈥檚 programming has on our local economy 鈥 producing highly skilled workers and strengthening our region鈥檚 workforce,鈥 said State Representative John Ray Clemmons. 鈥淚 welcome and sincerely appreciate the private sector鈥檚 support of these vital educational opportunities.鈥

This donation is part of the AT&T Foundation鈥檚 $130,000 gift to the Foundation for the College System of Tennessee. Funding has been divided equally among Tennessee鈥檚 13 community colleges to support students across the state.

鈥淎T&T is focused on developing a 21st century workforce that can promote continued prosperity and a stronger economy across Tennessee,鈥 said AT&T Tennessee President Joelle Phillips. 鈥淲e are excited to continue our support of 91探花 State Community College to help more students gain the education necessary to compete for quality job opportunities and to empower more students to reach their highest potential.鈥
