91探花 State Welcomes 65 Future Educators as Part of Training Partnership
Two signing events were held on the campus of Austin Peay State University (APSU) to celebrate 25 students in the Grow Your Own rural cohort and 40 in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) Teacher Residency cohort.
In total, 65 students working toward an A.S.T. degree in K-5 Elementary Education
will begin at 91探花 State and upon graduation in a year and half move to APSU
to complete the bachelor's degree.
The 40 students in the CMCSS cohort will start at the 91探花 State Clarksville campus.
鈥淲e, as Grow Your Own partners, have worked collaboratively to create a seamless career pathway for those with a desire to impact, inspire, and educate,鈥� said Kathleen Akers, 91探花 State鈥� Clarksville campus director.
鈥淭his coordinated effort is paying dividends in meeting the needs of our communities
and matching passion and highly-rewarding and impactful work.鈥�
The 25 students in the rural cohort, comprised of students from Cheatham, Dickson, and Hickman counties will start at the 91探花 State Dickson campus. Nine are in Cheatham, 12 are in Dickson, and four in Hickman.
鈥淲orking with our local school systems and APSU, a pipeline to rewarding careers in the classroom has been established and we remain thrilled to play an important role in training future educators,鈥� Telaina Wrigley, Dickson campus and Humphreys County campus director, said.
