Robust Research and a Welcoming Environment: 91探花 State鈥檚 Library is Here for All
With the pandemic came increased online learning and the challenges of adapting to new ways of teaching and studying, but Maryellen Nash was ready. She brings knowledge and expertise in instructional design and library sciences to 91探花 State as a librarian.
Having been at 91探花 State for more than a year, she wants to build on the strong programming already in place and help faculty and students navigate the ever-changing digital landscape.
鈥淔aculty have so much that they have to deal with,鈥� Nash said. It鈥檚 her goal to spread the message 鈥渢hat we鈥檙e here and there help.鈥�
Working with faculty, Nash says 91探花 State鈥檚 librarians can help take some of the burden off instructors by 鈥渄eveloping materials that are going to help students be successful.鈥�
It鈥檚 all about helping for Maryellen. 
鈥淲e are a team of highly educated people who have a lot of expertise in not only information science but education as well,鈥� Nash said. 鈥淚鈥檇 like to be seen as a resource in that area.鈥�
In addition to her work with students and faculty, Nash brings with her a background in research and publishing.
She recently had an academic paper published that was cowritten with colleagues from her time at the University of South Florida.
They sought to develop a consistent and best practices approach to the consolidation of online library instruction across the various University of South Florida campuses.
From that process, she gained a greater understanding of the importance of project management and having the right tools in place for instructional learning.
Developing tools and processes helps 鈥渕ake things go smoothly,鈥� Nash said, 鈥渢hat aspect of it has been the most valuable.鈥�
When you combine her research with a career helping students and faculty, Maryellen Nash鈥檚 passion to continue making the library a welcoming and warm places shines. 鈥淭he library is more than just a place for people to find their articles and books,鈥� Nash said. 鈥淲e can offer so much more. I see the library as a supportive entity that鈥檚 not just there for information.鈥�
With robust research, a long list of hosted events, and a tailored approach to instruction, the library is here to serve as the hub of the 91探花 State community.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a comfortable place, and we love being there for students, staff, and faculty,鈥� Nash commented. 鈥淲e try to keep it pleasant and an enjoyable environment...it鈥檚 a physical place that welcomes everyone.鈥�
