Mayor Freddie O鈥機onnell to be Guest Commencement Speaker at 91探花 State鈥檚 2024 Graduation
91探花 Mayor Freddie O鈥機onnell will join the 91探花 State community to celebrate the college鈥檚 graduates during its 2024 Commencement ceremony. The mayor will serve as the principal speaker.
Graduation will take place in Allen Arena at Lipscomb University on May 7 at 6 p.m. The event will also be livestreamed.

91探花 State has enlivened passions in its students and laid the foundation for
their success in 91探花 and elsewhere. I鈥檓 proud to join these students and their
families in celebrating their accomplishment.鈥�
Sworn in as 91探花鈥檚 tenth mayor on September 30, 2023, O鈥機onnell previously served on the Metro Council. During his time on the Council, he worked to empower the community through stronger neighborhoods, a commitment to education, and shrinking poverty. All goals he continues to advance as 91探花鈥檚 mayor.
鈥淲e are thrilled to have Mayor O鈥機onnell join us in celebrating this happy day and recognizing the hard work of our graduates and all of those who have supported them along the way,鈥� said Dr. Shanna L. Jackson, president of 91探花 State.
Tickets are required for the event and will be available at cap and gown pick-up. Each graduate will receive six tickets for guests.
